TitanÆ
syringe filters are manufactured to exacting standards using
a patented membrane encapsulation process which prevents solvent
or sample bypass of the membrane.
These high-quality filters are bidirectionally supported for
optimal strength in aspiration or injection modes. The all-virgin
polypropylene housing assures chemical resistance to aggressive
aqueous and organic solvents and permits extractable- and interference-
free filtration. TitanÆ filters are quality tested and
assured by an independent laboratory to confirm low UV-absorbing
extractables.
Titans 5.3cm2 filtration area is up to 50% greater
than some competitive filters, yet exhibit one of the lowest
hold-up volumes of any filter (60µl). The color-coded sealing
ring allows rapid identification of filter membrane type and
porosity, and also assures leak-proof performance. The pressure
rating on the 25mm polypropylene housing filters is now an industry
leading 100 psi, ensuring superior performance and safety, especially
when filtering dangerous or infectious products.*
New Pre-Filter
Titan 25mm filters now contain a 1 micron borosilicate glass
prefilter which increases particulate holding capacity and makes
filtration easier, faster, and more efficient.
NYLON
Filters
Nylon is a naturally hydrophilic membrane which requires no pre-wetting.
Nylon is compatible with aqueous and organic solvents, allows
limited exposure to THF, chloroform, and methylene chloride,
but is not recommended for use with strong acids or bases. Nylon
is a mechanically durable membrane which is also temperature
stable to 50C. Nylon is manufactured without surfactants and
is extremely low in extractables. Nylon is the most commonly
used filter for HPLC solvents and samples.
PTFE
Filters
PTFE (teflon) is a naturally hydrophobic membrane which is designed
primarily for filtration of organic solvents, but exhibits very
broad chemical and thermal compatibility, and is recommended
for strong acids and bases. (PTFE requires pre-wetting with alcohol
prior to use with aqueous solvents).
Regenerated Cellulose Filters
An extremely low-protein-binding membrane with a very hydrophilic
surface, designed for filtration of proteins and biological fluids.
Regenerated cellulose has superior chemical resistance compared
to cellulose acetate, making this media the membrane of choice
for most protein filtrations. |
